A Dilemma is any situation in which a difficult choice has to be made between two or more alternatives, especially ones that are equally undesirable. It's sometimes referred to as a Catch 22 or being caught between the devil and the deep blue sea. In life and our walk of faith, we often face many difficulties and problematic situations.
The Psalmist declares: "Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him from them all." (Psalm 34:19) You may be facing a similar situation today. Well you'll be relieved to hear that you are not alone. Several people in scripture also encountered numerous dilemmas :
1. Mary's Dilemma was " How can this be since I know no man?" But The angel told her Nothing is impossible with God....(Luke 1:34)
2. Sarah's Dilemma was "Shall I indeed bear a child, when I am so old?'… She laughed to herself.... And the LORD said , "Why did Sarah laugh? Is there Anything Too Hard for the LORD?? (Gen 18:12)
3. Ezekiel's Dilemma : “Son of man, can these bones live again?” So I answered, “O Lord God, You know.” Again He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! LIVE!... So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and suddenly a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to bone! (read Ezekiel 37)
4. Young Isaac's Dilemma: "Dad! the fire and the wood are here, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?" Abraham said, "My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering " (few minutes later) Abraham raised his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him a ram caught in the thicket by his horns..(Gen 22:14)
5. Moses had an interesting one; Before him was the Red sea, Behind him the nation of Israel, (nagging & grumbling) and a few miles behind them, The Egyptian Army in Hot pursuit! Then the LORD said to Moses, "Why are you crying out to Me? Tell the sons of Israel to go forward....The rest is history! (Ex 14:15)
Whatever your own Dilemma is today, remember that With God all things are Possible!
