The Benefits of Praying from the positioning of Praise!

Updated: May 15, 2020

Most times when we pray, We do so from positions of frustration, desperation, sorrow, anger etc. I believe that there is a better approach to prayer i.e. Praying from the positioning of Praise. The Psalmist declared we should Enter into the Lord’s gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise (Psalm 100:4)

I’m convinced that praying from this position is arguably the best form of Prayer because every type of prayer, Be it a petition, an intercession, a plea for divine intervention or even praying in the Spirit it is incomplete without Praise. By way of illustration even the Lord’s model prayer recorded in Matthew 6:9-15 begins and ends with Praise!

Therefore, we can deduce that Praying (from) praise is more preferable and desirable in the Lord’s sight than praying (for) praise! Instead of waiting for God to give you something to praise Him about you rather decide to praise Him beforehand. Remember that Jesus thanked God even prior to Lazarus resurrection. “They took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, "Father, I thank you that you have heard me” (John 11:41)

Secondly, Praying from the position of praise, its actually praying in God’s presence! The Psalmist declared “God inhabits the praises of his people” 22:3 so when we pray from the positioning of Praise, we are guaranteed an audience with God!

Thirdly, Praying from praise, it's actually praying in faith! Hebrews 11:6 says anyone who comes to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him! Our Lord also admonished us that "whatever we ask for in prayer, we must believe that we have received it, and it will be ours." (Mark 11:24) One way to demonstrate your faith during prayer is through Praise.

Fourthly, Praying from praise, it's actually praying from the position of authority, power and victory! Time will fail me to talk about II Chronicles 20 when Israel faced a mighty enemy, and as they began to sing and praise God. It is written that God set an ambush to defeat their army. When you praise and worship God, you are literally setting ambushments against the enemy in the spirit world. It is also praise that brought down the walls of Jericho (Joshua 6) Remember? The Psalmist also declared Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two edged sword in their hand to execute vengeance upon the heathen (149:6-7)

Finally, Praying from the positioning of praise, is indisputably Prevailing prayer! To prevail is to prove more powerful and superior! The bible records that one time at:"About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose" (Acts 16 :25-26)

Paul & Silas had choice either to wear the garment of praise or the spirit of heaviness (Isaiah 61:3) A spirit heaviness (Depression or Oppression) and Praise can't dwell in same place! Praise is the biblical antidote for depression. See friends, while continuous sin may lead to demonic possession; Lack of praising God often would lead to demonic oppression. Praying from praise will always prevail over oppression of any kind! Show me a depressed Christian, I will show you a Christian who does not praise God often.

"I will Bless the Lord at all times and His praise shall continually be in my mouth" (Psalm 34:1)
